Badminton
Clackmannanshire's Sports Development provides an excellent environment for children of all ages and abilities to learn to play badminton.
The classes are all taught by experienced staff and are progressively structured to allow children to advance and improve at their own rate.
Badminton Scotland's Junior Award Scheme (sponsored by the Bank of Scotland) provides a framework for the class format. The programme offers children a positive and exciting introduction to the game, and the use of modified equipment allows success to be achieved across a range of badminton skills. The classes aim to develop basic hand and eye co-ordination while generic skills such as running, throwing, catching and hitting are also developed and applied to a badminton context.
Classes
Evening classes are held on Monday evenings and there is a Friday night badminton leagues which offer children the opportunity to progress their skills in a fun and challenging environment.
Some local children who have progressed through the programme have gone on to compete in regional badminton meets.
