Charitable funds that can clear fuel debt

Charitable funds that can clear fuel debt

For customers with low disposable income and who are vulnerable, charitable funds (such as energy trust funds) may provide grants to clear off arrears and essential electrical appliances.

As a general rule, before applying for a grant, a customer must have taken debt or money advice from a nationally recognised service such as Citizens Advice Scotland, StepChange Debt Charity or the National Debtline.

An application must show that debt arose from compassionate circumstances outwith the customer’s control and the debt is causing significant problems.

Applications should be made online and the timescale for a decision is typically between 4 weeks and 3 months.
