The Vessel

This gallery opened in July 2008 and features a range of art including

  • jewellery;
  • works by British new designers;
  • textiles;
  • paintings.


Earrings by Claire Maxtone, Jewellery DesignerClaire Maxtone, the Council's Jeweller in Residence will act as the gallery's curator. Claire graduated from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and is a qualified jewellery designer. Her work is based on the shape and movement of windmills.

Claire will organise exhibitions, hold craft workshops for local people and sell her own jewellery, as well as the work of other UK designers from the gallery.

Commissions for any special occasion are also accepted.

For those trying to source a specific type of art, we will make every effort to access the right artist for you.

The Vessel will also increase its stock on the run up to Christmas.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday 10.00 am - 5.00 pm, or
  • by appointment if required

Prices

There is something for everyone at The Vessel with prices ranging from £4 to £500.

(A percentage of the profits from The Vessel will be reinvested into the Council's cultural work in the community).
