Researching your family tree is now easier in Clackmannanshire. You can now use the ScotlandsPeople system to search millions of Scottish records at our Family History Centre.

The Family History Centre is located within the Registration office at the Speirs Centre, Primrose Place, Alloa.

The ScotlandsPeople system (provided via National Records of Scotland) is one of the largest online sources of original genealogical information. Available records include:

  • Statutory Records - Births, Marriages and Deaths 1855 onwards
  • Statutory Records - Civil Partnerships 2004 onwards
  • Old Parish Records Births, Marriages and Deaths 1553 - 1854
  • Catholic Parish Records Births 1703 - 1914; Marriages 1703 - 1939; Deaths 1703 - 1964
  • Census 1841 - 1921
  • Wills and Testaments 1513 - 1925
  • Soldiers Wills 1857 - 1966
  • Valuation Rolls 1855, 1875, 1885, 1895, 1905, 1915, 1920

Cost

Access to ScotlandsPeople costs £15.00 per day (Monday - Friday 09:00 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 16:30), with prints of historical records available at 50p each. To book a place please telephone the Registration Office.

Archives

The Family History Centre also gives access to Clackmannanshire's archives. These include many fascinating records, photographs, and maps from all parts of Clackmannanshire (eg poor records, school records, old newspapers, estate and business records etc).

Replacement Certificates

Our Scottish Certificates website provides certificates for any birth, death or marriage registered in Scotland from 1855 onwards and any civil partnership registered in Scotland from 2004 onwards. Certificates may not be available if the event was registered outwith Clackmannanshire within the current year.
