The winner of the Council's 'Are you a breakfast champion?' poster competition will be announced this week.

The poster competition was launched during Farmhouse Breakfast Week in January. During the week local children were encouraged to 'make time for breakfast' and special menus were available at the nine primary schools with breakfast clubs.

Information packs about healthy breakfasts were sent to every child in the county, which included an invitation to enter the breakfast champion poster competition.

There was a fantastic response to the competition, with 12 of the county's 19 pupil councils taking part.

Each pupil council campaigned in their school to promote the 'make time for breakfast' message and has submitted 3 entries from Primary 4 classes. Judges now have the difficult task of whittling these down to one overall winner.

The judging will be done by Ann Clarke, Forth Valley's community dietitian, Carolyn Beatty from the Royal Highland Education Show and Alex Fowles of Forth Valley Food Links.

The judging will be done at Lime Tree House on 31st May. You are invited to send a reporter/photographer to Lime Tree House at 10am on Wednesday 31st May when the winner will be announced.

The designer of the best poster wins a fully organised farm visit for their P4 classmates and their school's pupil council, sponsored by the Royal Highland Education Show.
