Provost Derek Stewart is delighted with amount raised at two recent charity nights which were held in aid of the Tsunami Appeal.

The proceeds of almost £4500 from a ceilidh and 60s/70s night will be handed over to Dollar Parish Church's appeal by Provost Stewart on Monday.

Provost Stewart said: "Tickets for both events at Alloa Town Hall and Sauchie Hall sold out and everyone involved gave their time free of charge, including the Jack Delaney Band and Key West, meaning that all proceeds from the tickets and bars could go towards those in need.

"I am immensely proud of the way the people of Clackmannanshire have responded to the Asian Tsunami disaster and have been heartened by the way individuals and communities have done whatever they can to help."

You are invited to send a photographer to Greenfield on Monday at 1.45pm when Provost Stewart will present a cheque for £4418 to Rev. Susie Fletcher of Dollar Parish Church.

The cheque will be added to the thousands of pounds already raised and collected by the Hillfoots churches which is being sent to former Dollar minister John Purves who is now based in Sri Lanka, one of the many countries devastated by the Boxing Day disaster.
