The residents of Muckhart are going to the polls this month to elect their Community Councillors.

A ballot has been triggered because there is a contested election in Muckhart, for the second time in successive elections. The contest is in respect of 12 places on the Community Council and there are 13 candidates. The ballot, which is being conducted entirely by post, will give electors in the area the opportunity to choose the candidates they wish to be elected.

Ballot papers will be issued to all electors by Thursday 6 October and the closing date for return is Thursday 20 October.

Provost Derek Stewart commented: "'The election is an important event for Muckhart. The members of the Community Council play a key role in the area and freely give their time to work for and to represent the interests of all residents. They also provide a direct link with Clackmannanshire Council on key issues. I am sure that the electors in Muckhart will take this opportunity to show their commitment and active support to their Community Council by returning their ballot papers."

Other Community Council elections were uncontested, a full list of newly elected Community Councillors can be found on ClacksWeb
