Special meetings of Clackmannanshire Council today agreed a number of new administration appointments and changes to the decision making framework to create a more streamlined process.

Following the resignation of the minority SNP Administration, a minority Labour Administration has now been formed.

The new appointments are:

  • Provost - Cllr Derek Stewart
  • Depute Provost - Cllr Jim Stalker
  • Council Leader - Cllr Bobby McGill
  • Depute Council Leader - Cllr Graham Watt
  • Spokesperson for Education - Cllr George Matchett
  • Spokesperson for Health & Social Work - Cllr Graham Watt
  • Spokesperson for Environment & Housing - Cllr Kathleen Martin
  • Chair of Audit & Finance Committee - Cllr Janet Cadenhead

Changes have been made to the committee structure, with the following committees created:

  • Scrutiny Committee
  • Audit & Finance Committee

The chair of the Scrutiny Committee will be a member from the main opposition group to be appointed in due course.

Clackmannanshire Council will now meet monthly.

Council Leader Cllr Bobby McGill said: "This administration will ensure that the communities of Clackmannanshire receive the best possible services we can provide in light of reducing budgets. We only have a short period of time to make the changes and decisions that need to be made which is why we have streamlined the decision making process. The new structure will allow our minority administration to make prompt decisions as necessary."
