Banchory Nursery Inspection

Children attending Banchory Primary Nursery Class are confident, independent and express their opinions well, an inspection by the Care Inspectorate has found.

Banchory PS Nursery Class was inspected in November and the inspection report has now been published.

Inspectors graded the nursery as 'Very Good' in all areas of inspection - quality of care and support, staffing and management and leadership. The inspection found children had ownership and responsibility and that strategies and initiatives were in place to encourage the children to use their skills to help themselves and their friends care for the environment.

This inspection found the following strengths:

- Children were provided with knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence in their ability to cope with new and different challenges and were encouraged to explore the nursery and community environments
- Good opportunities were provided for children and their families to influence the care and support the children received.
- Children were motivated and happy in the care of staff, who reinforced positive behaviour and praised the children regularly
- Staff worked in an ethos of partnership working with those using the service, and this created a welcoming and friendly working environment

Education Convener Cllr Ellen Forson said: "This is a very good inspection report, and I'm pleased to see that the inspector has confirmed that the children are learning to have confidence in their abilities and skills. Well done to the whole nursery community for all the hard work they put into making the nursery experience such a positive one for the children. We will be working to ensure that the Banchory PS Nursery continues to be a great place to learn and grow in the future."
