Living Streets Scotland's Walk to School Campaign reaches tens of thousands of pupils across Scotland and now it's here in Clackmannanshire!

From Lockerbie to Lerwick, Islay to Inverurie, Muckhart to Menstrie, Living Streets want to make sure that every child that can walk to school has the opportunity to do so, safely and easily. We know that sometimes a little help is needed to get everybody walking to school which is why all primary schools in Clackmannanshire are now being offered the opportunity to take part in our groundbreaking WoW (Walk once a Week) initiative.

Enterprise and Environment Convener Councillor Donald Basillie said: "Walking to school is the most reliable and often the easiest way to get there. It is concerning that across Scotland many parents and children are no longer choose to walk to school. Walking can be fun, it's free and helps you and your children stay healthy in mind as well as body."

The good news is that simple interventions such as WoW can rapidly increase walking rates. In just five weeks, participation in WoW has been shown to increase walking rates by up to 26%, in an average school, this equates to almost 20,000 new walking journeys per year.

You are invited to join Strider (the WoW mascot) and the pupils of Banchory Primary School to celebrate the launch of the WoW campaign in Clackmannanshire.

Time: 10.15am
Date: Wednesday 9th December
Place: Banchory Primary School, Alloa Road, Tullibody, FK10 2TF
