Six sites were declared surplus to Council requirements at a meeting of Clackmannanshire Council today (14 May) and will now go forward for marketing and sale.
The sites declared surplus are:
As part of the Making Clackmannanshire Better programme, the Council reviews its property to identify sites which no longer support its core aims. These are then put up for sale, which reduce the Council's costs and generate capital receipts which can be used to invest in priority projects. A number of other sites contained in disposal programme for 2015/16 are already being marketed for sale or will be shortly.
Council Leader Les Sharp said: "It is right that the Council strategically reviews the sites and properties it owns to ensure that they are being used to support our Making Clackmannanshire Better programme. These sites are now surplus to requirements, and can go forward for sale with the money generated making a useful contribution to Council finances. The future development of the sites will mean that vacant land can be brought into productive use, secure the re-use and retention of important buildings while achieving environmental improvements and contribute towards economic regeneration.
"We welcome expressions of interest from all parties, large or small, that may have development ideas for these sites."
