Clackmannanshire Council has again been rated as having one of the top websites of local authorities in Scotland.

The Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) published a report called Better Connected 2015 this month, rating public sector websites for how easy they are to use; how effective they are at allowing tasks to be completed online; and how accessible and accurate they are.

Clackmannanshire Council's ClacksWeb (www.clacksweb.org.uk) scored three out of a possible four stars and was mentioned as 1 of 20 sites that narrowly missed out on achieving four stars. In addition ClacksWeb retained its mobile experience compliance, for visitors using a mobile device to visit the site, and also received a 3 reviewer rating (out of 3).

The search feature on ClacksWeb was highlighted as an area of good practice by SOCITM with the report stating: "Works well, helpful description of results".

Council Leader Les Sharp said: "This report gives us an important insight into how it feels as a customer to use our online services. As local authorities across the country experience budget cuts, we're always looking for more cost effective methods of delivering services and communicating with customers.

"Thanks to internet banking and online shopping, local people are accustomed to accessing services online and many people expect to be able to access more and more council services online.

"Customers make use of our website in ever increasing numbers and that is the true test of how useful it is. ClacksWeb is critical to the improvement of services and our communications with local residents and the easier it is for people to find up-to-date information about our services, the better.

"We'll continue to take on board recommendations from SOCITM to make the site even better for customers. As more and more people prefer using the internet to phoning or coming in to an office, it makes sense to keep our website as user-friendly as possible."
