There was an increase in participants at this year's secondary swimming gala, with around 50 swimmers participating in a range of events throughout the morning.
There was also an addition of 15 P7 guest swimmers which added to the competition and gave them an insight into what they will be up against in their next academic year. With the numerous races taking place and Alloa Leisure Bowl being an intimate venue, pupils, staff and spectators were situated around the pool creating a competitive and welcoming atmosphere.
All the races were straight finals and all medallists gained valuable points towards the overall school points shield. The level of swimming was impressive with some of the races being extremely close to call from both club and non-club swimmers. The competition concluded with some fun, mixed age and gender relays.
Winning the overall schools shield was Alva Academy with 49 points, second place was Alloa Academy with 44 points and in third place was Lornshill Academy with 43 points, so a very closely contested competition!
Thanks go to everyone who helped make the day such a successful, particularly retired teacher Eleanor McGlashan who came with her vast experience in swimming to help and support this event.
