Primary 7 pupils at Craigbank in Sauchie are the latest youngsters in Clackmannanshire to take part in a 'Max in the Middle' week.

Max in the Middle is a week long programme which uses drama, dance, discussion and food preparation and tasting to help the next generation of Scottish schoolchildren make informed decisions to improve their mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing.

The class worked co-operatively in small groups exploring potentially challenging situations that children may face in their day to day lives, such as peer pressure, cyber bullying, choosing which high school to attend and name calling. Working together the children were able to come up with possible solutions that could provide resolution to these situations.

As a class, the children looked at the 'eat-well plate' and healthy eating and the nutrition provided by different foods. The children then prepared and tasted a variety of different foods.

The week was completed by the children putting on a performance for family and friends, which showcased the work they had done over the week.

The programme is delivered in local schools by NHS Forth Valley and complements ongoing work to support the Curriculum for Excellence Health and Wellbeing experiences and outcomes.
