Families with young children in Clackmannanshire will receive help from a Tackling Money Worries project thanks to a successful funding bid by the Council's Housing and Social Work Early Years teams to the Scottish Legal Aid Board.

A grant of over £110k will provide a funded post for two years for the project, based in the Council's Money Advice Team. The post is part of the Early Years Money Support Service, and will help deliver a service assisting people to address money issues and worries.

Convener Les Sharp stated "I welcome the allocation of this grant. The joint working that achieved such a successful outcome will continue to support the more vulnerable members of our society such as families with young children to manage their finances. These families can end up in financial difficulties because of a lack of knowledge about how to plan a budget, and this service will work alongside the Early Years Team to help them take control of their finances.

"The Council recognises and welcomes the assistance received from the Scottish Legal Aid Board and our Early Years Screening Group to ensure that the benefit to families is maximised."
