A sunny June evening saw the latest off-road duathlon for adults and children at Gartmorn Dam staged by Clackmannanshire Council.

The courses for the junior competitors remained the same as they were for last month's race. The adult race was extended with the first run taking in the viewpoint on the hill on the south side of the dam and the bike heading into the Forestry Commission's trail to the north west before continuing around the dam. The final run was the same 1.7k loop featured in last month's race.

The race was attended by Chris Volley, National Performance Coach for Triathlon Scotland. Taking a brief break from his usual job of coaching Scotland's Commonwealth Games triathlon squad, Chris ran a short question and answer session with the junior competitors and presented the prizes.

The adult course saw Shaun O'Donnell take first overall male with a time of 37.25mins and Judith Turner was first overall female in 41.15mins. In the Junior races the P6/7 boys race was won by Cameron Blance in 11.38mins and the P6/7 girls race won by Ciorstaidh Ainsworth in 11.48mins. The S1/2 boys race was won by Morgan Bown in 14.15mins and the S1/2 girls race was won by Elizabeth Winton in 16.12mins. The S3/4 boys category was won by Sean Watson in 28.29mins and the S3/4 girls category was won by Freya Baxter in 31.21mins.

Clackmannanshire Council and technical advisors Clacks Active were supported by landowners, race sponsors, marshals, Chris Volley and all the competitors who made the evening such a great success. They are also grateful for the understanding shown for the need to close the park to cars during the event for safety reasons.
