Spring has sprung so now is a great time to enjoy Clackmannanshire's stunning outdoors environment.

Clackmannanshire Council's Countryside Rangers Service produces an annual events programme of fun & family as well as citizen science orientated events.

From pond dipping and hedgehog home building, over grassland surveys to history talks and guided walks, there is something for everyone in the selection of events chosen for the new leaflet produced by the Council. For a complete list of upcoming ranger lead events have a look at the events diary on ClacksWeb.

Wet Wellies and Water takes place on Saturday 28th June, with events at both Menstrie Burn and Brothie Burn. Just remember to wear your wellies as you find out more about the weird and wonderful creatures living in the local burns.

There are two fun packed weeks suitable for 8-12 years: the John Muir Week in July and the Forest Adventure Week in August. These events must be booked in advance.

The Rangers are also repeating the hugely popular 'Family Camp Out'. Many people's only experience of camping is a busy and noisy campsite - hardly getting away from it all! Wild camping is poles apart and with this in mind the Countryside Rangers have organised this event where five local families can experience one night under canvas in the local woods.

Booking for the Family Camp Out, which takes place over a weekend in August will be essential.

And in September there will be another chance to join the Rangers on an evening walk in search of bats.

Enterprise and Environment Convener Councillor Donald Balsillie said: "The Countryside Rangers offer a first-class programme of events from now until October. With spring in the air many local families are looking for ways to get out and about and enjoy our beautiful countryside and armed with this new leaflet they can't go wrong."

Copies of the leaflet are available in Council offices, can be downloaded from ClacksWeb or by calling 01259 450000. For all upcoming Rangers Service events have a look at the events diary on ClacksWeb. Information is also available on the Inner Forth blog at forthcoastal.tumblr.com.
