Following on from the huge success of last year's inaugural event, Clackmannanshire Council is holding another off road duathlon race at Gartmorn Dam, as Clackmannanshire builds on its reputation as being a great place to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

The event for junior and novice adults will take place on Tuesday 13th May, which will then be followed by a longer three race series. The race in May will follow the same format and course as last year's event with distances varying for the junior racers depending on year groups whilst the adult race is a 2.5k run, a cycle lap of the dam (5K) and a final 1.7k run.

The junior race will start at 6pm with the adults starting at 7pm. The race is being organised by Clackmannanshire Council with assistance from Clacks Active.

The May race will be followed by a three-race duathlon series at the same venue. Organisers are still finalising details of this series but entries will open shortly online at Entry Central. The dates for these races will be Tuesday 17th June, Tuesday 22nd July and Tuesday 26th August. Distances will increase for the adults for each race with the final race being roughly a 4k run, a 13k mountain bike and a final 4k run. The distances for the junior races will be the same as last year's event. The final race in the series will also offer a triathlon option for adults, with competitors in that event kayaking 2k as an alternative to the first run.

Councillor Ellen Forson, Education, Sport and Leisure Convener, said: "We were all blown away by the success of last year's race and the feedback we had was very positive and encouraging, with a clear cry for more of these races. Gartmorn Dam proved to be a perfect location so we're very keen to build on that success."
