The search is underway for Clackmannanshire's brightest education stars as nominations open for the Scottish Education Awards 2014.

People are being urged to nominate the teaching professionals and local schools that go the extra mile, for recognition at the national awards ceremony which honours the hard work and innovation happening in classrooms across Scotland.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning Michael Russell, said: "The awards give us all an opportunity to recognise, share and celebrate our schools' fantastic work."

Councillor Ellen Forson, Education Convenor at Clackmannanshire Council, said: "We are all very proud of the hard work and creativity of our young people in Clackmannanshire, and of the inspiration and dedication shown by their teachers and support staff.

"It is important that these efforts are recognised, and I would like to encourage everyone in Clackmannanshire to think about nominating the hard working people in their communities for the Scottish Education Awards 2014."

The awards are open to all publicly funded schools, including secondary, primary, nursery and special schools. There are also categories to recognise and reward the dedication of teachers, head-teachers and support staff across Scotland.

Do you know a local school that shines within the community or an exemplary teacher who motivates and nurtures pupils to become confident learners? If so, this is the opportunity to ensure that deserving schools and education stars in Clackmannanshire are recognised.

Nominations close on the 21 February. For further information and to make a nomination visit www.scottisheducationawards.org.uk.
