Clackmannanshire Council played host to 86 school pupils at the Forth Valley Regional Boccia Championships at Tullibody Civic Centre.
The Council's Sports Development and Active Schools Additional Support Needs teams have been organising the event for the past six years on behalf of Forth Valley Disability Sport.
Players from Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling took part in either individual or team competitions with the primary aged pupils competing in the morning and the secondary school pupils in the afternoon.
The pupils took part with the hope of qualifying for the Scottish Disability Sport national championships to be held in February 2014. Some great play was witnessed throughout the day in both the primary and secondary aged event with many of the games having to play an extra end due to a tie.
The winners in the primary section were from the Falkirk area who picked up 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in both the singles and the team events. However in the secondary school event the Clackmannanshire pupils came fighting back with an impressive 1st and 3rd in the singles event and 2nd and 3rd in the teams event.
Boccia is a Paralympic sport primarily played by individuals with physical disabilities and those with learning or sensory disabilities can also take up the sport and find a pathway to progress. The game requires skill and accuracy and is based on the principle of bowls.
A regional boccia club takes place every week at Clackmannanshire's Bowmar Centre, Alloa. If you are interested in boccia or would like further information on any of the sports development programmes we have on offer please contact sports development on 450000 or by email at sportsdevelopment@clacks.gov.uk
