Budget Event in Tillicoultry

A budget engagement event is being held in Tillicoultry next week - a chance for you to shape the future of public services in Clackmannanshire.

The event will take place on Wednesday 11th December at 6pm in Devonvale Hall, and is part of the wide ranging public engagement programme to gather comments from the people who use the hundreds of services we provide every day. A similar meeting has already taken place in Alloa.

The Council has already saved £14m over the past three years and it needs to save a further £25m over the next five years. Ultimately councillors will be making budget decisions so it is vital that their decisions are well informed and the impact of changes is understood.

Council Leader Gary Womersley, who will host the meeting said: ""There is no doubt that the budget setting process for 2014/15 will be extremely challenging. The Council is facing some extremely difficult decisions and it is clear that there is much work to be undertaken to realise the level of savings required.

"Some suggestions for changes have been made by Council officers, however it is the Councillors who will make the final decisions, and the views of the people of Clackmannanshire are an important part of informing this process. I'd urge everyone who can to come along and make their views known."

An information leaflet which explains how the Council currently spends its budget and illustrates the kind of areas where senior officers think we could close the budget gap, is available on ClacksWeb, along with an online survey where you can also give your views.
