Bag it and Bin it or Risk a Fine

Clackmannanshire Council is urging members of the public to report any overflowing litter bins and dog waste bins.

All the bins throughout Clackmannanshire are emptied on a regular basis, however the Council doesn't know that a bin is overflowing until its scheduled collection time, unless it is brought to our attention.

There have been a number of incidents recently where dog waste bins and general litter bins have become full and waste has been left by the side or on top of the bins, which is both unsightly and unhygienic.

There is a particular problem with dog waste bags being placed on top of dog waste bins - staff often discover in these cases that the bin itself is empty or only contains a few bags.

Residents are being urged to report overflowing bins so that collection crews can be sent to empty them as quickly as possible to avoid further problems.

Councillor Donald Basillie, Enterprise and Environment Convenor, said: "Most people dispose of their litter and dog waste sensibly.

"Staff are constantly working hard to ensure bins are emptied regularly. If someone sees a full litter or dog waste bin, please take your rubbish home or use an alternative bin and report the full bin to the Council on 0500 545 540 so that we can arrange for it to be emptied as soon as possible."

Please report any overflowing bins by wasteservices@clacks.gov.uk, calling us on 0500 545 540 or using the 'report it' function on ClacksWeb.
