Clackmannanshire Ramblers Club begins its new season of walks later this month, with an exciting programme due to run through to June 2014.
The rambler volunteer walk leaders are ordinary club members who give up their own time to prepare and lead the walks, fully supported by Clackmannanshire Council's Ranger Service.
If you enjoy walking in the countryside and prefer being with a group of like minded people than on your own, the Ramblers Club is for you. Walks are designed to suit all and take place within Clackmannanshire as well as further afield.
Launching the new programme of walks, Councillor Donald Balsillie, Environment and Enterprise Convenor, said: "The programme kicks off with a six mile walk from Tillicoultry to Dollar and return by Wester Sheardale on 27th August. It continues throughout the next few months taking involving walks including Glen Ogle, Kilsyth, Blairadam, Loch Ore and Arbroath."
Walkers must be properly equipped with waterproofs and boots with ankle support, and should check the description and the grade of the walk to ensure you are fit and prepared to undertake such a walk.
The Ramblers meet every third Tuesday at the car park behind Alva factory outlet and adjacent to the Parklands Centre, West Stirling Street, Alva.
Walks are led by experienced club members. Car sharing is used to travel to the start of local walks and coaches are hired for more distant venues. Volunteer rambler leaders give up their free time to prepare and lead the walks, and once you have been a member for a while you may wish to volunteer.
Annual Membership costs £7. An additional charge (£9) is made for walks requiring coach travel. Booking is essential for all outings requiring coach travel - telephone 01259 213131. Payment must be made at the time of booking.
