Hundreds of Council staff are benefitting from the introduction of the living wage.
The introduction of the living wage of £7.45 per hour was one of the pledges agreed by the Council when the 2013/14 budget was set earlier this year. The increase has benefited 200 members of staff. Last year the Council introduced the living wage of £7.20, which saw 136 staff benefit.
Council Leader Gary Womersley said: "This increase in pay aims to recognise how important and valued our staff are, leading to improved wellbeing and improved attendance at work. This will in turn lead to increased productivity in the workplace which will improve the delivery of Council services across Clackmannanshire."
Over 200 staff have benefited from the increase, the large proportion of whom are women working in jobs such as carers and cleaners.
Councillor Womersley added: "I'm delighted that we have been able to introduce this promise. We are committed to delivering quality and efficient services to local people. Showing that we value all our staff will help to achieve that goal. Our workforce is the most important asset we've got. It's absolutely vital that we recognise the contribution that they make through their hard work to the welfare of Clackmannanshire's people."
The majority of Scottish Councils have introduced the living wage as has the Scottish Government.
