Ludgate Resource Centre in Alloa hosted a charity fun filled week in aid of Dementia Awareness.

A fund raising extravaganza in support of the cause, took place from Monday to Friday 3rd-7th June, with all the proceeds raised being donated to Alzheimer's Scotland.

A good time was enjoyed by everyone with generous donations gratefully received.

The week began with entertainment courtesy of Drew Hogan a talented Frank Sinatra / Dean Martin impersonator which everyone enjoyed.

Local business woman Vilma Toma from Anna's Larder kindly set up an 'Olde Sweetie Stall' which proved to be very popular and sparked off plenty of reminiscence with tales of Grannies Tablet, Coultar's candy and Soor Plums, which were also a firm favourite.

Vilma's friend Barbara Kenny was also there selling children's hand knitted items, which sold extremely well. Both stalls were busy every morning.

Other events included getting the chance to dress up for a small donation. Among the costumes available show were 1920s Flapper girls, rock n' roll outfits and 'Dads Army' gear.

Service users Anne Davidson, Annie Irvine and Alex Risk caused a lot of laughter and enjoyment with their recollections of good memories and tales of dancing. Other events included quizzes, raffles and old time sing-songs.

All proceeds from the week's events will be donated to Alzheimer's Scotland to assist the charity to continue to support sufferers, families and carers of the illness. The total raised to date is around £60 with donations still coming in.
