The annual Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Athletics Championships were held recently at Grangemouth Athletics Stadium, the penultimate event in the 2012/13 schools athletics programme.
Tillicoultry Primary took home the overall Large School Award with 132 points. Alva Primary were second with 81 points, and Strathdevon were 3rd with 80 points.
Muckhart took home the overall Small School Award with 29 points. Claremont and Deerpark come joint second with 18 points.
Best girl was Lauren Blyth from P6 at Alva Primary, she beat the ASN long jump record.
Best boy went to Ross Kempski , a P7 pupil at Tillicoultry Primary, for beating the record for Turbo Javelin.
Paying tribute to all the excellent performances, Education Sport and Leisure Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson said: "The event was a great celebration of the hard work and effort the pupils have put in all the year round."
This year saw 556 pupils from all 19 primary schools within Clackmannanshire taking part, which made for a fantastic atmosphere. It turned out to be an excellent day.
Councillor Forson added: "I would everyone who made this day possible, particularly the coaches, volunteers and graded officials who helped out on the day."
The Council runs an athletics club every Monday between 6pm and 7pm at Lornshill Academy athletics track. The club will run throughout the summer. If you would like to join come along to the track on a Monday night, or for more information call 01259 450000.
