Clackmannanshire Council is offering free swims for school children during the school holidays.

Children under-16 can swim free of charge every Monday to Friday from 1pm to 4pm in the Alloa Leisure Bowl. The free swims are available from 1st July until 16th August. Children under-eight years-old must be accompanied by an adult.

The reminder comes in the same week as schools in Clackmannanshire have been taking part in the Scottish Summer Safety and Drowning Prevention Campaign.

This is a national water safety education campaign designed specifically for Scotland by Scottish Swimming and Royal Life Saving Society Scotland to highlight the dangers of water that may be encountered and how young people specifically can stay safe in, near and around water.

Education, Sport and Leisure Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson said: "The objective of the national Scottish Summer Safety Campaign is to ensure that children and parents are aware of the dangers and that they have the knowledge and capability to keep themselves and each other safe.

"I am delighted so many of our schools took part in this essential campaign and to help save a potential fatality."

Further information about the campaign can be obtained on sss@scottishswimming.com.
