Alva Primary School held the annual school P6/7 cross country championships at the Cochrane Park in Alva on Friday.

The school has been organising the championships for over 10 years, involving all of their P6 and P7 pupils who take part in the one mile course around the park.

Some of the P5s that come to the school's running club are also invited to take part. The rest of the P5s team together with the P1s to be marshals around the course so it was very much a whole school event.

Education, Sport and Leisure Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson said: "The children are encouraged to take part regardless of their running ability with each of them having individual goals around the course. And I would like to congratulate each and every one of them who took part."

All the runners received medals for completing the course and there were trophies for top three boys and girls.
