Two Clackmannanshire Council run care facilities are throwing their doors open to the public as part of the first ever National Care Home Open Day.

Menstrie House Care Home, Menstrie, and Ludgate Resource Centre, Alloa are taking part in the event, which is on Friday 21st June.

The idea behind the open day is to encourage local people to visit care homes and other facilities for older people in their neighbourhood and work together to develop better relationships between the service and the community.

This important connection is something that Menstrie and Ludgate have nurtured since opening and they are already acting as community hubs, including service such as long-term care, respite care, daycare, re-ablement, mobile emergency care and meals on wheels, as well as providing accommodation to the Princes Royal Carers Trust.

As part of the Open Day both services are hosting a coffee morning where the local community, local councillors and other interested parties can drop in and enjoy a refreshment and chat before having the opportunity to see the facilities available.

Housing Health and Care Convener, Councillor Les Sharp said: "This is a great opportunity to showcase the excellent services on offer, meet the team and see the fantastic work that goes on at both services.

"We hope that as many people as possible will take this chance to come along and have a have a look around."
