The mid-week volunteer group, organised by Clackmannanshire Council's Countryside Ranger Service will be heading out to Alva Glen on Wednesday 29th May to work on the footpath.

Volunteers will be teaming up with volunteers from the Ochil Landscape Partnership to cut back overgrown plants on parts of the west path of Alva Glen and improve access for the many walkers who use the Glen.

They will be meeting at 11am in the car park, with work expected to go on until 3pm.

The mid-week volunteer group is open to anyone over 18 who is interested in the countryside and wants to do something practical to improve it for wildlife and people.

The group is run by Clackmannanshire Council Countryside Ranger Service and each task will be led by one of the Rangers.

The group meets once a month on a Wednesday from 11am -3pm.

Enterprise and Environment Convenor Councillor Donald Balsillie said: "The tasks carried out are varied. Some tasks are aimed at improving access to the countryside while others are aimed at enhancing the biodiversity of the area."

Full instruction will be given for each task. There is also an opportunity for volunteers to attend first aid courses and other training, all free of charge.

Volunteers are asked to bring a packed lunch and a drink, and wear, warm, waterproof clothing, stout footwear and carry a rucksack.
