A team of keen gymnasts from Alva Primary and Alva Academy joined over 300 school gymnasts who descended upon Bells Sports Centre in Perth on 18th May for Scottish Gymnastics annual schools Gymfest display.
The Alva team of 29 gymnasts included gymnasts from P4-P7 as well as three of Alva Primary's former pupils who now attend Alva Academy. They worked hard on the routine for weeks in the run up to the event to perfect it for the big day with the support of their PE Teacher Fiona Lee.
Councillor Ellen Forson, Education, Sport and Leisure Convenor, said: "Gymfest is an annual gymnastics display event run by Scottish Gymnastics. It is a non-competitive, professionally run display festival which aims to promote gymnastics for all and encompasses the sheer enjoyment and appreciation of the sport that so many people have. Everyone is invited to enter Gymfest from the beginner to the advanced gymnast. The focus is on ensuring that all performers have the opportunity to display their talents to their family, friends and other gymnasts in a stress-free and enjoyable setting.
"The team from Alva all did extremely well to entertain the large crowds and had a great afternoon watching all the other performances."
Saturday's event featured 27 school teams from across Scotland plus 6 guest teams, including The Spartans Gymnastics Team and Astro Gymnastics.
Gymnastics is a popular sport in Clackmannanshire and it is one of the Council's priority sports.
