A group of Clackmannanshire pupils enjoyed a trip to the national rugby stadium at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, recently.

The 16 pupils, who have additional support needs and are aged between 9 -12 years of age, are part of the Clackmannanshire 'Dream Team' who train every Thursday at Park Primary School, Alloa.

The trip was arranged to recognise the hard work and effort they had put into training every week and for their achievement and performance at the annual Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association Tag Rugby festival.

Council staff accompanied the youngsters on the trip.

A fun quiz was arranged for the pupils during the visit where they had to recognise landmarks within the stadium, ask questions to staff and generally widen their knowledge of the sport.

A tour of the stadium was also arranged and they visited the BBC broadcasting area, radio seating, the changing rooms and they also came through the tunnel onto the hallowed turf itself. The group also had the privilege of seeing the Edinburgh team in a training session.

Education, Sport and Leisure Convenor, Councillor Ellen Forson, said: "It was a great day out for the pupils who deserved to be rewarded for their hard work over the past year."

Councillor Forson also praised the schools involved in the programme for their continued support throughout the year and looks forward to another year of ASN Rugby with the 'Dream Team'. Her thanks also went to the staff at Murrayfield for making the visit such a memorable event.
