The number of young people claiming unemployment benefit in Clackmannanshire has fallen compared to last year, according to new figures published today by the Office for National Statistics.
In Clackmannanshire in March 2013 there were 70 fewer young people claiming unemployment benefit, a seven per cent reduction on benefits compared to the same time last year.
Welcoming the new figures, the Council's Enterprise and Environment Convener, Councillor Donald Balsillie, said: "Supporting more young people into jobs is a top priority for this administration. We are working hard to improve the employment options available and these very positive figures from Clackmannanshire, demonstrate that our work is producing results.
"Our efforts so far have included a guaranteed offer of a place in education or training for every 16-19 year old."
Minister for Youth Employment Angela Constance added: "A vibrant Scottish economy needs Scotland's young people to be a central part of a dynamic workforce and most young Scots want to rise to this challenge. That's why I would urge more employers in Scotland and Clackmannanshire to make our young people their business and take advantage of the support we've provided to do so."
