Three Clackmannanshire youngsters had their hard work and dedication honoured this week when they were presented with certificates to mark the successful completion of a 21 month Modern Apprenticeships in Children's Care Learning and Development.
Dannielle McEwan and Kallista Atkinson, both from Menstrie, and Jade McNally from Alloa, all aged 18, were presented with their Scottish Qualifications Authority SVQ certificates by Enterprise and Environment Convener, Councillor Donald Balsillie at a ceremony at Kilncraigs recently.
Dannielle and Jade completed their apprentices while working at the Council's ABC Nursery on Grant Street, Alloa, while Kallista was employed at nursery and soft play centre Kidz World at Kelliebank, Alloa.
While completing their training the trio spent the majority of their time based at the nurseries, but also did a significant amount of work with trainers and doing courses including first aid and food hygiene.
They were all supported by their employers and staff from the Council's employability services Clackmannanshire Works using funding from the Council, Skills Development Scotland and the European Social Fund.
Councillor Balsillie said "This is a great example of what young people can achieve if given the right opportunities and support from employers and agencies but, most importantly, it's testimony to the dedication, enthusiasm and sheer hard work of these young people. They can be very proud of their achievements."
Kallista is going to continue working at Kidz World, while Dannielle and Jade have applied for qualified child care worker posts with the Council. In the meantime they are keeping their skills up to date by volunteering.
