The P6/7 class at Fishcross Primary School has been learning about the Scottish Parliament as their topic this term.
The pupils have learned about the day in the life of an MSP, the making of a bill into a law, reserved and devolved matters, how to run a campaign, including manifesto's persuasive writing, speeches, presentations and the democratic system.
As part of their project they had a visit from Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP Keith Brown and Clackmannanshire Council Leader, Councillor Gary Womersley, during which time they held a 'ministers Question Time' which certainly put them through their paces.
The project culminated in a mock election using authentic polling booths and ballot boxes in which the class parties had to present to parents and other members of the school.
Education Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson, said: "Their focus was something to improve in the class and something to improve in the school. Their suggestions had to be backed up with valid reasons and the questions posed by the electorate had to be answered."
Finally the electorate voted for the party whose changes in school they wanted to see happen.
The winning party were "The Achievers", who comprised Kerryn MacMurdie, Chloe Daobry, Marcie Currid and Sasha Cruise.
Their victory was based on their ideas of raising more funds for school resources and to have a 'chill out' zone for pupils at lunchtime, the pupils chosen by teachers for their effort and behaviour in class.
