The designs for the new Redwell Primary School proved to be a hit when they were 'showcased' at an event for parents last week.
The event at Alloa Town Hall was a chance to celebrate all the behind-the-scenes work that has taken place to create a school which meets the needs of pupils and staff from both Claremont and St John's.
Staff from both schools, as well as Parent Councils and pupil representatives have been involved in designing and naming the new school.
The new school will create a 21st century learning environment which will house pupils from St John's and Claremont Primary Schools.
The £8.6 million new primary school will be built at Redwell. The Council has been allocated funding of £4.05 million from the Scottish Government Schools for the Future programme for the new building.
This week's event also saw the launch of the Redwell Primary blog which will track the unique journey to the new school.
Councillor Ellen Forson, Education, Sport and Leisure Convenor, who attended the event, said: "A fantastic amount of information was available on the evening, from how the pupils came up with the new name and how the playground designs have evolved, to the creative process staff have gone through to come up with a new shared ethos for Redwell as well as the travel plan and the eco plan for the new building.
"It was a chance to see the impressive latest designs and artists' impressions, as well as seeing the launch of the exciting new blog."
The lead contractor will be Robertson's Construction. The architects are Keppie Design, with the civil and the structural engineers Blyth & Blyth. Wallace Whittle have been appointed mechanical and electrical engineers. Work is expected to begin on site next month.
There will be 18 classrooms in the modern energy-efficient building, which will be sufficient to accommodate the projected roll of 434 pupils when the school is due to open its doors for the first time in August 2014. This will also meet the projected future increases in roll due to additional house building in the catchment area.
