Clackmannanshire Council has been rated as having one of the top websites of local authorities in Scotland.

The Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) recently published a report called Better Connected 2013, rating public sector websites for how easy they are to use; how effective they are at allowing tasks to be completed online; and how accessible and accurate they are.

Clackmannanshire Council's ClacksWeb (www.clacksweb.org.uk) scored three out of a possible four stars and was one of only six websites in Scotland to receive the new 'Better Connected' standard for access from mobile devices. This puts Clackmannanshire in the top 10% for mobile access across the UK.

Clackmannanshire was also cited as an example of good practice for citizen engagement.

Depute Council Leader Councillor Craig Holden said: "This report gives us an important insight into how it feels as a customer of our online services. With more and more services accessible online, customers make use of the website in ever increasing numbers and that is the true test of how useful it is. ClacksWeb is critical to the improvement of services and our communications with local residents and the easier it is for people to find up-to-date information about our services, the better.

"We'll continue to take on board recommendations from SOCITM to make the site even better for customers. As more and more people prefer using the internet to phoning or coming in to an office, it makes sense to keep our website as user-friendly as possible."
