Alva Community Council have recently held an election to fill 10 vacancies. Ten nominations were received so the Community Council will now continue with its work.

The following people have been elected to Alva Community Council: Ian Cameron, Lynn Cameron, George Furmage, Linda Greig, James Lyle, Margaret McArthur, Sandra Rees, Elizabeth Spruce, Gemma Waghorn and Philip Ward. They join the existing Community Councillors Mary Dalrymple, Russ Fenton and Christine Wilson.

Provost Tina Murphy said: "I am so pleased that the people of Alva have responded to the call for nominations so positively. This is a good sign that they realise the important work that the Community Council undertakes with and on behalf of the people of Alva. For Clackmannanshire, this means that all areas have an active Community Council which is the vital link between ourselves, the Council, and the people who live and work within our communities.

"A Community Council is made up not just of members, but of the support and engagement of the wider community. This has never been more important as now when Local Government throughout Scotland is having to make tough choices on how best to provide services for their communities.

"A well-informed community can be an invaluable source of opinions and suggestions for doing things better and we see Community Councils as having a pivotal role in this relationship."
