Local primary schools from across Clackmannanshire and Stirling have battled it out in the regional heat of the Scotland-wide 2013 Euro Quiz competition.

Once again Clackmannanshire and Stirling held a joint heat with a winning team from each council area. The winning teams are Strathdevon and Bridge of Allan Primary Schools. Euro Quiz is organised by the Scottish European Educational Trust and is sponsored by Standard Life.

Nine primary schools took part in the competition at Alva Primary on Friday 1st February. The competing teams made up of four Primary 6 pupils from the Stirling area were Killin, Drymen, Port of Menteith, Cowie and Bridge of Allan and from Clackmannanshire the primaries were, Alva, Tillicoultry, Strathdevon and Fishcross.

Headteacher of Alva Primary Craig Rennie was quizmaster for the event and Sophie Buxton, the National Organiser of the Quiz from the Scottish European Educational Trust, presented the prizes and certificates to the children.

The teams were tested on their knowledge of history, geography, sport, culture and the European Union. There was a great atmosphere during the quiz and the children had an opportunity to get to know one another over light refreshments during the interval.
