Clackmannanshire Council were joined this week by representatives from 30 organisations including universities, colleges, local employers, sector skills councils, voluntary sector, police and fire service at a very successful career event organised by the 'Excellence for All Co-ordinators',
It took place at Lornshill Academy on Thursday 24th January with the prime objective to raise attainment in career aspirations for pupils and to assure a positive school leaver destination such as further education, apprenticeship or employment.
Vice-Convener of Education, Councillor Walter McAdam and Head Teacher Peter Allan were there to open proceedings.
Councillor McAdam said: "Around 500 Lornshill Academy senior pupils and over 100 parents received excellent information, advice and guidance to assist with future career planning. It was a very well organised event."
Lorraine McGee 'Excellence for All Co-ordinator' at the school explained how this event was a valuable opportunity for all senior pupils to find out about opportunities in an ever changing world of work and to speak directly to the experts.
Caroline McGuire, a Strathclyde University Administrator, said: "It was an extremely well organised event with all pupils interacting and asking very relevant questions relating to
study at University and is certainly an event which Strathclyde University would want to be involved with again".
Amy Graham, an S6 Pupil of Lornshill Academy said: "It was a really good event. After speaking to the colleges I now know what I need to do to get the best possible offers for my careers choice"
