As winter conditions continue, you may want to make the switch to a more affordable source of heating.
Switching to a greener heating system such as a heat pump or wood-fuelled boiler, may be the best option for you. Not only is it kinder to the environment it can also make a difference to your energy costs potentially saving you up to £610 each year depending on the type of system you choose.
Clackmannanshire Council, in partnership with Energy Saving Scotland, are holding a free event at Dollar Civic Centre, Dollar on Wednesday, 6th February between 7 and 9pm.
Housing Convener, Councillor Les Sharp said: "Green heating needn't break the bank, with a range of financial support available, now is a great time to consider a new heating system."
Why not pop along to the event at Dollar Civic Centre to find out more about how you could claim interest-free loans of up to £10,000 from the Scottish Government, with a payback of eight years and grants of up to £1,250 from the UK Government.
This could mean that your upfront costs are either mostly or totally covered, for example, if you bought an air source heat pump for £9000 you could claim an £850 grant towards the cost of the system plus an £8,150 interest free loan.
In addition to this, you may be able to earn cash from your heating system through the UK Government's domestic Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, even if you install now, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria. This scheme should be available from summer 2013.
There is a lot to consider with such a significant purchase. The Energy Saving Scotland advice centre is funded by the Scottish Government and offers free, impartial advice.
