All primary one pupils throughout Clackmannanshire will this week receive an early Christmas present of a bright yellow backpack.
They will each be getting the high visibility rucksacks after Clackmannanshire Community Wardens were awarded additional funding. The money was made available through The Community Safety Cash Fund and over 700 children will benefit.
The first of the new backpacks were handed out this week to pupils at Clackmannan Primary School by Education Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson.
Councillor Forson said: "It is fantastic that all primary one pupils in Clackmannanshire are receiving one of these bright yellow backpacks. They will be a great tool in helping to provide increased pedestrian safety during the dark winter months."
The distribution of these items underscores a recent Central Scotland Police road safety campaign and Junior Road Safety Officers who were trained during this initiative.
