Third year pupils at Alloa Academy have been taking part in a full "Curriculum Enrichment Day" with a focus on "Promoting Alloa Academy" to further enhance the reputation of the school.

The students designed different promotional material, including producing a promotional video about the school.

Some of the material has been published on the school website and a questionnaire has been delivered to the local public They have also produced an Alloa Academy monopoly style board game, a giant billboard and are planning a community event, which will take place in the near future.

The questionnaire asks the public about their perceptions of Alloa Academy and to gauge how interested the public are in knowing what is taking place in the school and they can best promote the good work taking place.

The date for the community event activity has not as yet been confirmed, but the group who will be holding this event have a variety of ideas including an open day with face painting, cake sale, or bingo tea for the local community. So far, the main idea is to have a coffee morning-type event with music form school bands and soloists, with a nail bar and face-painting on the side. It is now likely that the event will take place after Christmas.

Education convener, Councillor Ellen Forson, said: "I fully support and encourage the school in promoting the reputation of the school. They have clearly put a lot of thought and structure behind the whole project and I am sure it will be a success. I went along on the day to view the work and was very impressed by what I saw."

The monopoly board has local landmarks on it, such as Alloa Tower, Alloa Town Hall,
Glassworks, Recreation Park, the local schools and the train station.

The billboard included a collage of photos of pupils in the different departments within the school with information why they like working within the department. It also depicted some of the achievements of pupils within the group, along with the school name.
