Time is running out for home owners in Clackmannanshire to take advantage of home insulation at no cost.
The Universal Home Insulation Scheme is part of Clackmannanshire Council's ongoing commitment towards the promotion of energy conservation and efficiency.
Clackmannanshire Council's Housing Convener, Councillor Les Sharp, who launched a bus advertising campaign this week, said: "By properly insulating your home you can reduce your energy bills, make your home warmer and you will also help to lower your home's carbon footprint, at no cost at all."
Buses throughout Clackmannanshire will be carrying adverts on the back and the side, reminding people that it is their last chance to apply for the free home insulation, and at the same time that only Carillion are authorised to carry out work on the council's behalf. All residents in Clackmannanshire will shortly be receiving a letter through their door also reminding them that the scheme is soon to end.
Councillor Sharp added: "If your home is suitable, cavity wall and loft insulation will be installed free of charge regardless of your household income."
To apply, call the Home Energy Scotland Hotline free on 0800 512 012 (quoting: ClackmannanshireUHIS_2012), as soon as possible to complete a free home energy check over the phone.
You will then be referred to Carillion Energy Services who will arrange for a surveyor to visit your property and identify, with your agreement, where improvements could be made to
your insulation.
In the coming weeks, representatives from Carillion Energy Services may call at your home to promote this initiative and explain the services that are available to you. For peace of mind, they will carry a copy of this letter and can be easily identified by photographic ID which you can ask to see.
Councillor Sharp went on: "Carillion Energy Services are working in partnership with the Council and are the only organisation that have authorisation to undertake this work in your area at no cost with funding from the Scottish Government.
"We are unable to support any installations by other organisations and as the available funds are limited, applications for insulation will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis."
In addition home assessors can also visit your home to chat about other ways you can save money. They can advise on using energy more efficiently, help you obtain the best deals on gas and electricity, help you understand and simplify fuel bills , tariffs and metre readings, and can act on your behalf with utility suppliers to deal with fuel arrears and payment plans.
