After the resounding success of the Olympic Games, the focus is set to turn on the Paralympics, which open on 29th August.

As sporting fever once again grips the nation, a group of Clackmannanshire schoolchildren have been invited to join in the fun with tickets allocated to them for the Paralympic Games in the Olympic Stadium in London - free of charge.

The lucky schools from around the county who have been given the tickets are: Menstrie Primary, Banchory Primary, Alva Primary, Claremont Primary and Muckhart Primary.

Each have three tickets for various sessions throughout the Games as part of the Get Set Olympic Ticket Allocation.

Sport and Leisure Convenor, Councillor Ellen Forson said: "It is a wonderful opportunity for our young children to sample the atmosphere of the Olympic Stadium, particularly so soon after the huge success of the Olympics. It will hopefully give them the drive to further their own sporting ambitions and will be a boost to their health and fitness."

First to sample the fantastic atmosphere will be the children of Alva Primary School, who have three tickets for the session beginning at 10am on Friday, 31st August. Among the events on during that session are the finals of the women's long jump and discus and the men's shot put. They will also see the rounds of the women's 100 metres and the men's 200 metres.

On Monday, 3rd September, three pupils from Muckhart Primary will be in the Olympic Stadium from 10am onwards. Among the highlights that morning are the finals of the women's shot put, men's long jump and the rounds of the men's 1500 metres.
