Further improvements to the railway line in Alloa are set to continue as work begins on two footbridges that cross the line.

Following the completion of the work to raise the footbridge height at Erskine Street, similar work has to take place at the bridges at Argyll Way and at Grange Road. This work is likely to last for two months and some of the work will require to be undertaken overnight.

The Council has been working closely with Network Rail's contractors to ensure the impact on local residents is kept to a minimum. A meeting is being held tonight (Thursday) at 7.30pm in Alloa Town Hall to inform local residents about the nature of the work, when it's happening and what is being done to minimise the impact. The meeting has been organised by the contractor, in conjunction with the Council.

Councillor Donald Balsillie, Enterprise and Environment Convenor, said: "The Council is committed to supporting improvements to the railway which will result in a better service for passengers in the long term. We will continue to work with the contractor to ensure that this work is carried out in a sympathetic manner and the impact on local residents is minimised."
