Alloa Athletic, winners of the Scottish Football League Irn-Bru Division Three Championship, and Sauchie Juniors, who won their championship and gained promotion to the East of Scotland Super League for the first time were honoured this week by Clackmannanshire Council at a Civic Reception at Greenfield.
Provost Tina Murphy paid tribute to the success of both local football clubs at a Civic Reception held in the Council Chambers.
The Provost, presenting specially framed certificates to commemorate their achievements, said: "We are delighted about the success of not one, but two of our football clubs in Clackmannanshire, achieving promotion in their respective leagues. It raises the profile of the game considerably and we wish them well as the new season approaches.
"We are all very proud of their outstanding achievements last season and were delighted to honour them officially in this way."
Mike Mulraney , chairman of Alloa Athletic F.C., accepted the certificate on behalf of the Wasps, while secretary Hamish Mitchell, was presented with the certificate which will hang proudly in the trophy room at Sauchie Juniors.
Sauchie were also represented at the presentation by goalkeeper Darren Dolan and defenders Steven Dolan and Steven Rennie.
