Clackmannanshire Community Wardens, with the support of Central Scotland Police Community Resource Team, will carry out regular patrols of all Primary schools within the county during the summer holidays in an effort to tackle vandalism.
In a summer crackdown they will carry out regular checks of the 19 primary schools and three secondary schools in Clackmannanshire engage with young people found within the school grounds.
Announcing the summer crackdown, Education Committee Convenor, Councillor Ellen Forson, said: "During the summer holidays, school buildings are frequently the target of vandalism. This is a drain on local finances, detracts from the appearance of the area, and if not reported and repaired quickly can act as an encouragement to further vandalism.
"We would ask everyone to be vigilant during not just at this time, but all the year round, and should they see anything suspicious in school grounds or anyone vandalising our schools in any way to report the matter as quickly as possible."
The initiative will run from 29th June until 20th August.
Prior to the summer holidays, an audit of existing damage has been carried out which involved visits to the schools and discussions with the janitors to identify any areas of concern.
In the week leading up to this new campaign, leaflets produced by Central Scotland Police entitled "My School - Our community" will be delivered to addresses close to primary schools to encourage local residents to assist in keeping schools safe.
To provide the widest coverage, regular visits to primary schools were carried out by Community Wardens and Community Police Officers during both daytime and evenings.
Schools have also been included for monitoring on the Police/Warden ASBIT (Anti Social Behaviour Impact Team) weekend patrols schedule.
