Park Primary Schools recently hosted its very own Olympic Sports and Fayre.

Friends and family of the school turned out in large numbers, on what was to be a hugely successful day, in order to cheer on the competitors and browse through the stalls that were set up and run by the school's parent council.

A fantastic profit of around £500 was raised through the stalls, which will be used to buy resources for the school.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated items for sale, including the local businesses who gave so generously.

Meanwhile, on the track and field, spectators were treated to a variety of events. The most eagerly awaited of these was the final mile of our marathon.

Since May, children from P4 - P7 had been running 1 mile per day in order to complete the marathon challenge. On sports day qualifying children who had already completed 25 miles, took their places on the starting line. This final mile was run competitively in two races - the boys' mile, followed by the girls' mile.

Medals were awarded to the first 6 boys and the first 6 girls.

These were, for the boys:

1) Aiden Hynd (P6)
2) Gregor Crowe (P6)
3) Blaine Prentice (P6)
4) Sanders Christie (P5)
5) Robert Henderson (P6)
6) Bobert Hunter (P7)

And for the girls:

1) Kendal Vuong (P6)
2) Andrea Christie (P6)
3) Kady Gilchrist (P4)
4) Caitlin Wade (P5)
5) Megan Young (P4)
6) Natalya Thomson (P4)

Gold, Silver and Bronze stickers were also awarded to the boys and girls in class races and events such as the standing long jump and ball throw.

Staff and helpers also chose children from each class who they believed deserved recognition for the outstanding sportsmanship on the day.

These were:

P1 - Aaron Jarvie
P2 - James Tilly & Shannon Quinn
P3 - Kiara Stewart
P4 - Dylan Derrick & Kaitlyn Gilchrist
P5 - Dylan Johnstone
P6 - Iona McNaughton
P7 - John Sneddon
