ASDA Alloa brought the brand new Healthy Farm Bus to Park Primary School last week.

The ASDA Healthy Farm Bus, funded by the Asda Foundation and supported by Jim Viggars, their Head Bucher and star of their Butchers Selection advertisement campaigns, chose Park Primary as one of only three schools in Scotland for a visit from the bus.

The Healthy Farm Bus provided farming experiences for the Park Primary pupils that most children would never get the chance to experience, including the chance to milk an electronic cow, make wool, plant seeds and plants and take part in Cookery demonstrations.

The Healthy Farm Bus was at Park Primary School on 14th June and stayed at the school the full day so that every pupil got the chance to experience this wonderful event.

Kirsty McCormack, Community Life Champion said: "We were extremely proud to have been selected and be able to bring this wonderful event to the pupils of Park Primary.

"The Healthy Farm Bus provides a fantastic opportunity for pupils to try something new and learn new skills, and help them understand where the produce in which we sell comes from. "

Adrienne Aitken, Head Teacher at Park Primary School, said: "We are always keen to involve the local community, business and partners in children's learning experiences. The Asda Farm Bus provided the children at Park Primary with another opportunity to experience different aspects of skills for learning, life and work.'

Throughout the day when The Asda farm bus came to Park Primary, P1-6 were able to visit an exhibition set up in the school gym hall and the demonstration bus. Children were able to taste smoothies and stir-fry.

Primary two children particularly enjoyed the experience as they had just completed a six week focus on Farming.
